Bed Safety Guidelines
Phase 1 of the new CMS Requirements of Participation for LTC facilities went into effect on November 28th, 2016. The addition of specific regulatory language and surveyor guidance on bed, mattress and side rail safety offers providers the opportunity to evaluate that current bed systems are aligned with industry best practices. This session will offer attendees a review of the regulatory revisions, a refresher on the FDA Entrapment Guidelines, and a review of products that may help reduce or eliminate the need for side rails and reduce the risk for entrapment. You’ll also learn about use of the Direct Supply® TELS® platform to manage inspection and maintenance tasks.
Objectives:
- Review some of the regulatory requirements related to bed and mattress safety in Phase 1 – CMS Requirements of Participation for LTC – effective November 28, 2016
- Review FDA Entrapments Guidelines
- Discuss ideas that support compliance with new requirements and how Direct Supply can help.
